Vance was a valuable asset with the design build phase by determining our various needs in a multi‐tenant strip center in Auburn, AL. This included working with a brand new franchise, Island Wings, as their first restaurant location. Each tenant’s needs were unique to their respective space. Not only did VMC lead the design‐build team, they furnished construction for the center coordinating all Owner Supplied and/or Furnished Equipment, handled the required multiple permitting and closeouts. The projects ranged from new construction and renovations to historic preservation. The experience of each was very rewarding. The team at McCown Construction and of Vance McCown, himself, was very professional and attentive to the needs of the job and of the client. Scheduled and unscheduled meetings with the on-site job superintendents kept each project moving smoothly. Our clients were so impressed with one renovation job that they retained the company to do five more expansions and renovations. The VMC team kept us very informed of all issues of safety, scheduling, and budget in a timely manner so as to allow us to proactively manage the process. As an owner’s representative for Region’s Bank, I have had the distinct pleasure of working with this group of people for the past three and a half years. During this tenure, I have specifically worked with Vance McCown Construction on building seven ground-up projects, two renovations, three tenant build outs and one temporary trailer install. Yesterday, they were awarded another ground-up project by the bank.
All projects awarded to VMC have been hard bid and always come in under budget. VMC has met every schedule set forth by the bank and no change orders have been issued that were not a cause of the bank. Safety has been a priority with Regions and VMC has done an outstanding job in this arena.
As one could easily deduce, Region’s Bank has determined VMC is an excellent general contractor and continually exceed the expectations of Regions Bank. If there are any specific issues that I can address, please feel free to contact me.

Please accept this letter as a recommendation for Vance McCown Construction Co. Inc (VMC). Springhill Medical Center has had occasion to use Vance McCown in the past, both in a competitive bid situation as well as a negotiated design build project.
VMC constructed an addition to our Medical Office Building 3. This work consisted of exterior wall demolition & protection, new foundations, grade beams, structural steel, concrete slabs, HVAC, electrical circuitry, roofing systems, etc commensurate with new construction and interior renovation. This project is significant in the respect that VMC was able to perform all new construction and existing space buildout while still maintaining a clean and operational Urology practice directly adjacent to the construction site (on the other side of the wall). VMC tailored their schedule around the needs of the occupants, maintained all essential services and kept the jobsite clean and orderly. VMC also constructed a joint venture laundry in which SMC is a part owner (Coastal Linen). VMC performed this work as a design build project. The project was completed within budget and schedule.
Neither of these projects experienced unexpected costs or delays, which is rare in projects of this scope and magnitude. Vance McCown Construction has proven to be a professional, reliable & consistent general contractor, willing to go beyond normal expectations to manage his projects in such a manner as to minimize disruption and accommodate his clients. We have been very satisfied with his work and would highly recommend VMC for any/all healthcare related work.
